Most people, including most HVAC contractors, fail to realize that comfort
problems are a combination of a poorly performing HVAC system AND a
poorly performing building envelope. The building envelope, or "thermal
shell" separates the conditioned space from unconditioned spaces like attics,
crawlspaces and the outdoors. Ingnoring the building envelope and trying to
find an "HVAC only" solution results in trial and error that wastes time and
